Reportage wedding photography is all about storytelling. A good story is only as good as it's parts put together; the plot, the setting, the theme (love, obviously) and, in this picture, the characters. When photographing a wedding, I try to create a story through pictures by capturing all of those elements then presenting them in such a way that allows the newlyweds, families and guests to be able to be transported back to the wedding day and relive that story. Although I'm primarily a Somerset and Bristol wedding photographer, I love traveling throughout the UK so was delighted to get the opportunity to photograph the above wedding in the stunning countryside of the South Downs in Sussex.
children at weddings
Kicking off a brand new feature on my wedding photography website, I thought I'd start with a happier moment...children loving the wedding speeches, wondering when ice cream is arriving...
Why I Love Reportage will feature some of my favourite reportage wedding pictures that may not be album cover in themselves, but nevertheless tell the story of the day, showing the characters, emotions and moments that make documentary wedding photography so great.
Love this shot of the kids as they eagerly await the bride's arrival. Having children at weddings is a very personal decision for the bride and groom and I've photographed wonderful weddings with and without children present. I have to admit, though, that kids certainly never cease to provide great photography opportunities!
These children's wedding outfits were just a bit adorable as well.
