A Happy Accident | Zooming Long Exposure Wedding Photography

I often photograph wedding ceremonies with a zoom lens on one camera and an 85mm prime on the other to allow me to get a number of perspectives quickly. When photographing the first kiss, I generally like to get a tight crop of the bride and groom then zoom out to get another pulled back shot of the guests, showing the bride and groom up front. During a recent wedding at Maunsel House in Somerset, I did just that with my Nikon 24-70 lens but ended up pressing the shutter and zooming at the same time, resulting in a motion blur of everything in the frame other than the bride and groom.  I'd like to take artistic credit for the resulting photo but I have to put this zooming long exposure wedding photograph down as a happy accident.
